Global Data Specialists delivered a Phoenix Aircraft Arresting Control System (PAACS) project for a dual-runway aircraft arresting installation at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The system uses Motorola ACE3600 controllers and encrypted control communications.
Controls for a Dual-Runway Installation
The project required coordinated control equipment and operator interfaces for the USAF aircraft arresting systems across two runways. GDS integrated custom control panels, Motorola controllers, communications, and application software.
The communications requirements included encryption. GDS's work covered system programming and testing, followed by installation, startup, and commissioning.
Operator Documentation and Training
The project also included user documentation and training for the people operating and maintaining the controls.
The dual-runway PAACS project was completed in 2023.
