Global Data Specialists replaced the Intellution FIX32 HMI at a private water utility's wastewater treatment plant in Arizona with a redundant VTScada system.
Separate Water and Wastewater Applications
The old HMI kept water and wastewater in one database. GDS split them into separate VTScada applications on a primary and a backup server, communicating with the plant's existing Modicon PLC and its Motorola MOSCAD and ACE3600 RTUs.
Cutover at a Live Plant
Because the plant stayed in service, the new HMI ran in parallel with the old system until the utility confirmed the plant was working on the new SCADA application.
Follow-On Work
Later, GDS switched the plant's pump control to a flow-based strategy.
