Global Data Specialists developed a municipal water SCADA system connecting twelve well and tank sites for the City of Nixa, Missouri. The project combined PLC programming, cellular communications, and a new VTScada operator interface with field installation and commissioning.
Connecting Field Equipment and Operations
The upgrade covered equipment at remote water sites and the software operators use to monitor it. GDS developed the control logic and VTScada application, including graphics, alarm notification, historical data, and remote monitoring.
Cellular communications connected the distributed sites. The work also included control panels and the documentation needed to install, operate, and maintain the system.
Installation, Commissioning, and Training
GDS's scope included hardware engineering, PLC and HMI development, panel drawings, installation coordination, commissioning, and operator training. Field work was coordinated with the city's operations and installation team as sites moved onto the new system.
The completed project gives Nixa a common VTScada interface for its twelve well and tank sites.
